Teenager Liam Love was found hanging at Dewsbury Moor home

A POPULAR teenager found dead in his home took his own life, a coroner has ruled.

Liam Love, 18, was discovered hanging by his shocked stepfather when he returned to the Dewsbury Moor home he shared with the teenager after a holiday.

Jared Windor told the Huddersfield inquest that the devastated family were at a loss as to why the promising apprentice engineer decided to kill himself.

In a statement he said: “We don’t understand why this happened. Liam was a happy person.

“He had his whole life ahead and had lots of friends.”

Mr Windor said he and Liam’s mum last had contact with him by phone on February 13.

On February 18 he returned to the home at Cornfield following a short trip to Milan, to find his stepson’s body lifeless.

“I opened the front door with my key and turned the alarm off,’’ he said.

“I then went into the living room and kitchen to put my bags down. There was a lot of post behind the front door and I picked that up.

“I went to go upstairs and then I saw my stepson Liam on the stairs. His lips were blue and then I saw the tie around his neck. I knew he was dead.”

The inquest heard that frantic Mr Windor locked himself out of the house as he rushed outside to alert neighbours.

When police arrived they had to smash a window to open the door to get inside.
