Almondbury man Nick Newby coach set for Vintage at Goodwood festival trip

IT’S a unique celebration of five decades of British cool.

Vintage at Goodwood, a major new music and fashion led festival, launches next week.

And tootling along to be part of the action will be Almondbury man Nick Newby in his new vintage pride and joy.

The 49-year-old has collected dozens of motor gems over the years but it’s his latest edition – a rare 1960s built coach – that will shine in the spotlight at the festival.

Bus

The 20 seater Battersby Silver Grey coach will play a major part and be used to ferry celebrities about.

One of the famous faces hopping onboard will be renowned fashion designer Wayne Hemingway, the brainchild behind the festival.

The bus reminded the Red or Dead label founder of his childhood days growing up in Morecambe.

Nick said: “I got in touch with the organisers saying this seemed like a great event and that I had this coach that would be perfect for it.

“Then out of the blue Wayne emailed me and asked me to come down with the coach.

“He said he remembered the coaches from his childhood and said he was going to give it pride of place in the 60s themed area of the festival.”

Set in the grounds of the Goodwood Estate in West Sussex, the three-day festival is the first to combine the best of contemporary music, fashion, art, design and culture from the 40s, 50s, 60s, 70s and 80s.
