New college campus rises up
HUDDERSFIELD has a new “tower” to rival Castle Hill.
And they even look pretty similar – for now.
But make the most of it because the new structure will soon disappear from view.
The concrete tower is taking shape on the site of the new Kirklees College Waterfront campus, off Chapel Hill.
It has been hauled into place by the two giant cranes on the site, which dominate the skyline.
And college officials have revealed that it is one of the stairwells that will be inside the new main building for the college.
Ray Sheller, project manager for the new building at Kirklees College, said it was provoking interest.
“The tower shape that people can see on the site at the moment is the first of the stair cores.
