Three admit charges after Huddersfield stabbing

A YOUTH worker for Kirklees Council who was arrested following a stabbing in Huddersfield in March has admitted a charge of common assault.

Lee St Hilaire, 31, was one of three men who were due to stand trial at Bradford Crown Court yesterday.

But when the case was called, his guilty plea to common assault on Jermaine Johnson was accepted by the prosecution.

Leeds Metropolitan University student Luke Simpson, 23, pleaded guilty to wounding Nathan Trew with intent to cause him grievous bodily harm and Judge Jonathan Rose warned him that he faced being sent to prison when he is sentenced in October.

A 17-year-old boy, who cannot be named for legal reasons, admitted a charge of affray.

Huddersfield magistrates heard in March that St Hilaire was a behavioural support worker for 14 to 16-year-olds and worked with children excluded from mainstream education.

The charges arise out of an incident when Mr Trew was repeatedly stabbed during a teatime disturbance on Westgate.
