Helping hand for Huddersfield A-level students

“DON’T panic”.
That was the advice today from careers experts in Kirklees as hundreds of students got their A-level results.
Staff working for Connexions, the Kirklees and Calderdale careers service, are planning to be in schools and colleges.
They will also be staffing advice desks at their offices in Huddersfield to help students whose results are not what they expected.
And the message was: Even if you don’t get the grades you need, options are still open.
A spokesman said: “First ring the university or college to see if they are still prepared to accept you. Often, students who narrowly miss the offered grades will still be accepted.
“Unless the course is particularly popular, many students still have a good chance of being accepted, should their grades slip.
“If you do lose your place and you still wish to go into Higher Education, you must be prepared to spend time finding a suitable alternative.
“Clearing places will be published in many newspapers as well as on the UCAS website so check to see what places are still available.
