THREE friends are getting ready to take part in the Great North Run.
Colleagues David Cran and Oliver Moorhouse, who work at Bramleys in St George’s Square, will compete in the half-marathon, which takes place on Sunday, September 19 on Tyneside.
They will be joined by friend Steven Rudd, owner at butcher Meat Steve in Queensgate Market.
The three men are being sponsored by family, friends, work colleagues and the partners at Bramleys – with a target of raising at least £1,500 for the British Lung Foundation.
Steven’s wife Amanda Rudd, who is sales and marketing manager at Bramleys, said none of the three had run a half-marathon before, but added: “The boys have been training hard two to three times a week.
“They are varying their runs to maintain their enthusiasm – as training can be monotonous – by running in different locations, conditions and distances, as well as including other sports such as football and squash to build stamina.”
