Future of Fartown High School could still include a new school

In a statement, a spokesman for Kirklees Council said it was vital that the council did not miss the opportunity to transform learning in north Huddersfield.

“The previously agreed ambition for a new building on a new site, developed alongside investment in All Saints Catholic College, remains in place.

“The council will continue to explore funding opportunities for this to be realised.

“Considerable interest has already been received from potential bidders and there are still several weeks of the bidding process to run.”

After the competition closes a second statutory notice will be published including a list of bidders and summaries of their proposals.

A public meeting will then be held for the community to find out more about the proposals.

A final decision is expected in Spring 2011.
