Illuminating work by Huddersfield University students ahead of All Hallows play
IT’S a production which begins with Almondbury’s mention in the Domesday Book.
But thanks to the technical skills of students at the University of Huddersfield, it’s set to become a show produced with very modern technology.
And there is also help from notable actors including Timothy West and Prunella Scales.
All Hallows Church at Almondbury is staging Son et Lumiere – a sound and light show – for 13 performances beginning in mid-October and running through until mid- November.
And it has been boosted by year two university students who volunteered their time over the summer to help record the sound and light show.
They’ve specially recorded the audio for the production, which posed some challenges for them.
Al McNichol, senior lecturer in music at Huddersfield University’s Barnsley campus, was invited to get involved by Richard Wood, treasurer of All Hallows.
The lecturer said: “I thought it was a great opportunity for students to get involved in an external project which helps the community.”
