WALKING is an activity she has enjoyed since she was a little girl.
And Lindley woman Lilian Thomas is still going strong as she celebrates turning 90 – and being the oldest member of her walking group.
Lilian, of Plover Road, goes on the fortnightly three-mile treks come rain or shine and celebrated her milestone birthday with the group.
She has been a member of The Happy Wanderers group, run by Huddersfield U3A, for three years.
Lilian said: “I’ve always been a keen walker, I love anything to do with outdoor life.
“I like doing anything that keeps me fit and my mind active. I’m a member of a Scrabble group with the U3A and enjoy dancing – I also make sure I eat right.
“ I walk whenever I can and also go out with my daughter Linda, who does long distance walking.
“I used to got out in the woods picking bluebells when I was younger. Walking became second nature to me and I love seeing all the pretty countryside and looking at nature.
“I don’t feel my age at all and I’m always the one walking out at the front!
