Royds Hall High School pupils celebrate Eid in style

STUDENTS got their dancing shoes for an Eid celebration.

The glamorous party was organised by Year 11 girls at Royds Hall High School.

On the night a group performed a Bollywood-style dance routine.

Other attractions included a buffet and Mehndi henna hand-painting provided by the pupils.

The belated event to celebrate the end of Ramadan also raised funds for the Pakistan Floods Appeal and a total of £300 was raised. Girls from Year 7 upwards attended the evening, which was led by new science teacher Nadia Akhtar.

Joanne Clegg, the school’s senior administration officer, said: “The girls wanted the opportunity to dress up and get together while remembering those in Pakistan who have lost family and homes because of the flood.

“It gave the school a lovely sense of community and friendship.”
