IT’S a festival that attracts attention from some of the film industry’s top figures.
The British Film Institute London Film Festival is rolling out the red carpet to some of the world’s hottest stars and filmmakers.
And set to rub shoulders with the likes of George Clooney and Keira Knightley is Huddersfield filmmaker, Ben Sweet, whose film All The Way Up has been selected to be screened at the festival today.
The 32-year-old’s short movie has already wowed audiences at American film festivals.
And Ben, from Netherton, says the chance to show it at such an iconic and well-respected festival is a dream come true.
He said: “The film has had three really successful festivals in the US and I’m really excited to have it back in England. To be given the chance to be part of the UK’s biggest film festival is such an honour – you can’t get any bigger that the British Film Institute – and I can’t wait to see what audiences here think of it.”
The 17-minute film was directed by acting legend Sir David Jason in his directorial debut and stars Irish actor Adrian Dunbar.
It was shot over four days at The Queen’s Hotel near the railway station in Leeds.
It was the first big project for Ben’s production company based at Northlight Film Studios in Armitage Bridge, which he set up with business partner Shane Hamill.
The dark comedy tells the story of Charlie, who has the perfect job, family and wife.
But one day he embarks on an adulterous affair with a younger woman and sets off to meet her in a hotel room.
