Widow shivers as temperatures drop and fire repair takes a month
A 75-YEAR-old widow says she has waited in the cold more than 20 days for her fire to be fixed.
Sheila Farrington, of Slaithwaite, had a normal check up on her heater by Kirklees Neighbourhood Housing on October 6.
Soon after the workmen left however, a problem with the flue was identified and she could not use the gas fire in the dining room, which for mobility reasons she treats as her living room.

Mrs Farrington, of Stuart Grove, said: “They looked at the fire at the start of the month and since then I’ve been struggling.
“The fire came off the wall and they said there was a problem, but I’ve tried to find out when it would be working again and I’m not getting anywhere.
“I’ve had to make repeated calls to the council housing and it’s been very expensive. I only have a mobile phone so I can keep it with me in the house and all in all I’ve spent about £20 trying to find out what’s going on.
