Last of the Summer Wine's comedy coppers keen on TV spin-off

A TV spin-off from Last Of The Summer Wine could be on the cards.
Two of the cast from the show – axed by the BBC earlier this year – are behind a project to keep some of the characters on our screens.
Ken Kitson and Louis Emerick, who played hapless police officers in the world’s longest-running sitcom, are working on ideas.
And they will be involved in a meeting next month with producers, technical staff and other cast members.
The pair, who will switch on Holmfirth’s Christmas lights on November 27, worked on Summer Wine for many years.
And the man who brought it to the screen, producer and director Alan Bell, has already voiced support for the idea of a spin-off.
He was angry that the BBC chose to axe the show when it was still attracting millions of viewers.
He said: “There are some talented people working on the show and it would be a shame if they never got the chance to work together again.”
Kitson and Emerick have devised a stage show featuring their two police characters, Cooper and Walsh, and they will present that at New Mill WMC on November 26.
A spokesman for Kitson and Emerick said: “The show, An Arresting Night With Cooper And Walsh, is based on the characters we played in the show.
“They were a pair of comical police officers, who liked nothing more than to hide away from crime and the general public, to sip tea in the countryside.
