Amnesty on £500,000 in late fees on 47,000 late Kirklees Council library books and CDs

“Things are very tight at the moment and our library stock would benefit. Books may be of considerably greater value than the overdue amount owed by a borrower.

“Hopefully this will encourage people to bring them back.”

In December a new system for overdue books is being introduced.

From Wednesday December 1 overdue notices will be circulated to borrowers with the first notices coming into effect on Wednesday December 8.

To make life easier for borrowers, overdue notices can be sent out free of charge via email providing an update on any overdue library items.

It’s easy for customers to receive information this way by simply calling into their local library and information centre and providing an email address.
