KIRKLEES’ Deputy Mayor Eric Firth, marked the 200th anniversary of the Holmfirth Methodist Circuit at the town’s Civic Hall.
Laura Hardy, circuit superintendent, said: “We had a service to celebrate, which was attended by 250 people from the nine churches in the circuit.
“There were many more churches in the past but 200 years is a long time and that was what the service recognised.”
The event was also attended by Holme Valley Parish councillor Rhona Bratt and Clr Shirley Watson of Meltham Town Council.
