A NEW children’s centre was dropped off by lorry.
The Holywell Green Children’s Centre, covering Stainland, West Vale, Elland and Greetland, was delivered in two sections.
The building was brought in by lorry already fitted with appliances and decorated.
The sections were then craned into position on pre-prepared foundations, and slates fixed to the roof to make the building complete.
Calderdale Council enlisted the help of Hipperholme-based Watson Construction to construct the foundations, paths, ramped access and extra car parking for the centre.
David Moore, Calderdale Council’s head of regeneration said: “This centre is an example of a new breed of more sustainable buildings. We hope there will be more opportunities to use similar technologies in the future.”
It is due to open on November 27 and will host activities for children, young people and their families, including support groups, play sessions and weight management courses.
