KIRKLEES groups have kicked off National Interfaith Week with a meal.

The Kirklees Faiths Forum met for its annual general meeting at the Hudawi Centre in Great Northern Street, Huddersfield, yesterday to discuss work done to improve community relations.

Events in Huddersfield include an open day at the Hanfia mosque in Lockwood, meditation and tour at the Buddhist centre in Birkby, a Focus on Faith and Disability seminar at Huddersfield University and the chance to have a go at Arabic calligraphy.

Hannah Taylor, who is the community faiths development officer for Kirklees Faiths Forum, said: “National Interfaith Week is a chance for the communities in Kirklees to come together and learn more about each other.

“We are really excited about this year’s events.

“There is something for everyone, for people of all faiths and none, and we hope lots of people will join us,” she added.

All of the Interfaith Week events are free but booking is essential to avoid disappointment.
