CHILDREN had a day off school yesterday because of a power cut.
Kaye’s First and Nursery school in Clayton West had to close for the day after a major electrical fault in the area.
The fault – close to the school – left the building without any electricity or heating from 3.15am.
Acting headteacher Helen Parker said they managed to use the school’s website and text service to inform parents of the 177 pupils, in time for them to make alternative care arrangements.
The school was expected to reopen as normal today.
A spokesman for YEDL said: “A fault on an underground power cable meant power went off in the Clayton West area at 3.15am yesterday morning. In all 57 premises were affected and they were reconnected by 4pm.”
