Hinchliffe’s Farm Shop applies for new temporary home four months after fire

A HUDDERSFIELD business destroyed by fire could take a big step back to normality this week.
Hinchliffe’s Farm Shop in Netherton was devastated by a blaze in the summer.
The shop, butchery, restaurant and tea rooms, plastic tunnel greenhouse and offices were all destroyed in July’s fire, which also killed about 200 chickens.
In September the shop and restaurant re-opened in a marquee at the site at Netherton Moor Road.
And this week Kirklees Council planners will decide if general manager Simon Hirst can set up a new temporary structure, four times bigger than the current one.
Yesterday he said: “At the moment we have a higgledy-piggledy mess. We have everything squeezed in together.
“We can’t physically fit anything else in and, with Christmas coming up, we don’t want to cram our customers in.
