Rawthorpe Junior School pupils travel to London

YOUNGSTERS became trainee politicians for the day when they visited the Houses of Parliament.

As part of their focus on democracy Rawthorpe Junior School pupils who are members of the Pupil Council and the TATS group (Taking Action Towards Safety) travelled to London.

It was the first time that many of the children had travelled to the Capital and by train.

They were escorted by members of the school staff, Police Community Support Officer Dawn Su of West Yorkshire Police and Simon Morris a Kirklees Ranger. The trip was sponsored by Huddersfield company Riasca Paper and Print who donated the bright yellow vests to make it easier to identify the children on the tube.

The pupils enjoyed a conducted tour around Parliament and met Huddersfield MP Barry Sheerman, who explained the process of democracy in Parliament.
