Surprise lambs at Nettleton Hill

IT wasn’t all gloom and doom in the Arctic weather.
These two surprise arrivals brought a smile to a Huddersfield family. Jacob and Isaac, two South Down lambs, put in a very early appearance.
The pair were born at Irslan and Lorraine Mir’s farm at Nettleton Hill Road on Monday, as temperatures dropped below freezing.

And yesterday they were being cared for by the couple and their four children as several inches of snow blanketed the area.
Lorraine said: “We have had lambs in December in the past, but never any in November. They usually arrive in January or February, but we had the ram running with our 11 sheep all year so it wasn’t a big shock.”
The lambs’ mother is feeding the new arrivals – named after the couple’s two eldest children – but all are being cared for in a stable.
The other children, Leanne and Bella, are helping out with feeding the ewe.
