Schoolbus drivers defend services in bad weather

BUS drivers have hit back at complaints that school services were axed because of the bad weather.
The drivers, who work for First, ran the service from Marsden to Colne Valley High School on each day, despite the snow.
But there appears to have been confusion over where the pick-up points were.
The First spokesman said: “We had buses collecting children in Fall Lane but were not able to get up Mount Road or on Dirker.
“The Fall Lane point is the one to be used in bad weather and that is advertised to parents through the school. Drivers waited there for 90 minutes as the school advised they were opening at 10am.
“We also had drivers working to take children home from the school when it closed early because of the snow, and advised service drivers to pick up any children who had to walk.”
