NEEDY children will receive free Christmas presents this week.

Shabach Outreach Ministries in Paddock is holding a party for disadvantaged young people on Friday.

Each child will receive a gift donated by Asda.

The supermarket chain has given hundreds of presents to the Huddersfield church following an appeal from Pastor Carlton Napier.

He said: “I often write to organisations asking for donations. I must have written to Asda at the right time because they have an abundance of toys which they gave us.

“They donated hundreds of gifts, from soft toys to stationery.”

Some of the presents will be given out at a Christmas party at the Hudawi Centre on Friday, while others will be sent to church groups in Jamaica, Ghana and India.
