Race for Life getting bigger in Huddersfield in 2011

ORGANISERS have unveiled plans for their biggest-ever charity event in Huddersfield.

The people behind the hugely-successful Race for Life project plan to hold four races in the town next summer.

The news comes after the success of the 2010 event, when more than 5,000 people took part in three races – and raised a staggering £248,046.

The project is one of the big annual fundraisers for Cancer Research UK.

The 2010 events were held over two days at Leeds Road playing fields in July and organisers plan to return there but with four races on July 16 and 17.

Helen Webster, regional events manager for the charity, said: “We are in the process of planning our events for 2011 and we are aiming for our biggest-ever year.

“We plan to host four events over the weekend of July 16 and 17 at Leeds Road and would hope people support our ambitious target and raise even more sponsorship for research into cancer.”
