Police raid Huddersfield restaurant, bar and lock-up in booze tax probe

THREE men were this afternoon arrested on suspicion of tax fraud and selling smuggled alcohol after police swooped on a Huddersfield restaurant.

Hundreds of bottles of suspected non-duty paid wine and spirits were recovered at Huddersfield Italian restaurant Il Gatto Nero and bar Cobi.

Two metal shipping containers containing hundreds of bottles of wine were also found during a separate raid at a lock-up off Leeds Road.

Three men were arrested at Il Gatto Nero, on Kirkgate, on suspicion of fraudulent evasion of excise duty and keeping smuggled goods.
