A LIBRARIAN at the University of Huddersfield has won a national award.
Library systems manager, Dave Pattern, has been awarded the title of Information Professional of the Year in the annual Information World Review awards, which are held in London.
A member of staff at the university since 2001 and a former Huddersfield student, Dave received nominations from both his university colleagues as well as peers from outside of the campus.
“It came as a bit of a surprise when I got the phone call to say I had won,” said Dave.
“I am honoured to have won though – particularly as many of those who have claimed the award before me are people I hold in quite high esteem.
“It’s all very flattering,” he said.
An active supporter of one-day events, known in library circles as the Mashed Libraries series, Dave has organised two of the six, hosting them at the University of Huddersfield.
The events aim to bring together interested people and bring technology to bear on all aspects of library working.
Places sell out within a day.
He has also introduced new projects at the university, including a system of recommending other books when students borrow titles.
