Detailed and independent inquiry into the Kirkheaton siege
Dec 30 2010 Huddersfield Daily Examiner
EXPERIENCED investigators working for the Independent Police Complaints Commission are looking into the Kirkheaton siege tragedy.
The IPCC was set up in 2004 to make sure that complaints against the police are dealt with effectively.
It sets standards for the way the police handle complaints and, when something has gone wrong, it helps the police learn lessons and improve the way it works.
The independent inquiry is carried out by the IPCC’s own investigators and overseen by an IPCC Commissioner. The investigators have all the powers of the police.
