Ram raid at Sainsbury’s Acre Street, Lindley
A FAMILY told of their horror after being woken during the night by daring ramraiders.
Karen Pickering and her partner Lee Livesey were asleep in the bedroom of their Lindley flat when the gang struck on Wednesday night.
The gang of between four and six men drove a blue Shogun 4x4 through the window of the Sainsbury’s Local store in Acre Street and made off with a cash machine, using a black Mercedes as their getaway car.
The couple’s flat is one of several above the supermarket.
Police were called to the supermarket shortly after midnight.
Karen said: “We just heard one bang and it woke us up straight away.
“We went downstairs to look out of the window and we saw the Shogun.”
Lee said: “It was foggy outside and I couldn’t see the other vehicle.”
The drama unfolded while the couple’s two young children Adam, six, and two-year-old Chloe were fast asleep.
