A WOMAN who died after being hit by a train has been named.

Joanne Toshack, 43, lost her life in the early hours of New Year’s Eve on the railway line near Standedge Tunnel, Marsden.

An inquest has been opened into her death, which is not being treated as suspicious.

It is understood Mrs Toshack, a married mother and grandmother, had recently moved back to Deer Hill Close in Marsden having spent a period of time in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia.

A funeral service is to take place at Marsden Parish church on Tuesday, January 11, at noon.
