COMMUTERS were hit by lengthy delays as they headed into Huddersfield yesterday morning.
Drivers reported being held up for up to 30 minutes in the queues of traffic in the Folly Hall area.
One driver reported that it took him 36 minutes to crawl from Lockwood Viaduct to Folly Hall on his journey into town at 8am.
He said: “There seemed to be a problem with one of the traffic lights.
“The filter traffic lights turning right from Lockwood Road on to Colne Road was down to four cars when it usually lets about a dozen through.”
A Kirklees Council spokeswoman blamed a fault in the lights system for the delay.
“The faulty lights were at the Chapel Hill/Colne Road junction and were fixed before lunchtime on Monday,’’ she said.
Anyone can report faults on the following 24-hour ROSS Streetcare number 0800 731 8765.
