Deighton victim Kim Driver died of multiple stab wounds, murder trial jury hears

AN alcoholic who was knifed to death in his Deighton flat may have been less able to resist his attacker because of the alcohol and methadone in his system, a murder trial jury heard yesterday

A post mortem confirmed that 52-year-old Kim Driver died from multiple stab wounds to his chest and upper abdomen.

And the wounds were inflicted with moderate to severe force during the attack at his home last July.

Bradford Crown Court heard that further tests revealed that at the time of his death, Mr Driver’s alcohol level was about three times the drink-drive limit.

He also had traces of methadone, a heroin substitute, in his system.

In a statement read to the court, Home Office pathologist Professor Peter Vanesis concluded that most of the stab wounds to the chest had penetrated the rib-cage causing internal wounds to the liver, the diaphragm, the lungs, the heart and the aorta.

Prof Vanesis suggested that a stab wound to Mr Driver’s left forearm could have been a defensive injury.
