David Lawton’s exhibition at Fair Traders Co-operative, Holmfirth
A COUPLE spotted a photo they loved at an exhibition – and discovered it was taken on the day they married and at precisely the same time.
The coincidence was realised by the pair, from Chester, visiting the first exhibition at Holmfirth Fair Traders Co-operative. The work by local landscape photographer David Lawton is displayed at the Huddersfield Road venue.
David’s work called Sunset Stories captures natural colours of the sky and the landscape both at sunrise and sunset.
They are mounted with the date and time that the image was taken in a certificate on the back of each photograph.
Another couple noticed one which was taken on the day of their engagement.
Mr Lawton, of Meltham, is married to Elizabeth and the couple have a daughter Abigail, 11, and son Thomas, 10.
He gave up his day job as a hotel manager to care for the children several years ago when he began to develop his passion in amateur photographer.
His hobby has since developed into a ‘cottage’ business with his children naming each photograph he takes.
He has shown his work in the Meltham Art Exhibition and has also featured several times in the Examiner’s Picture of the Week.
David is researching sustainable framing and uses recycled or reused materials whenever possible.
