Honley motorist makes pothole warning sign
IT’S a sign of the times.
An angry motorist placed a warning for fellow drivers on a bumpy village road.
The sign, at Northgate in Honley, reads: “Potholes and uneven shabby Kirklees repairs for 1/2 mile.”
But his warning sign, placed on an official highways sign, was in place for only a few days.
It did, however, reach the attention of other drivers. One said: “It is something that should be put up on all the roads in Huddersfield.”
The sign-writing driver, who asked not to be named, put up the notice next to an official sign warning of road bends.
The motorist said: “I noticed a blank section of a road sign on the pothole-ridden road I have to travel on every day.
“So I made a nice sign to warn other motorists – and get a little dig in at Kirklees Council.”
The driver installed the sign on Monday night on the road which links Honley and Farnley Tyas.
The motorist said: “I’ve driven on that road for years and years and it’s got to the stage now where there’s no original road surface left.
“Kirklees is not going to do anything because it all comes back to ‘we have no money’.
