A FILM starring Huddersfield’s Jodie Whittaker is in line for an Oscar.
Wish 143 has been nominated in the Short Film (Live Action) at the Academy Awards, known as the Oscars.
And the host of Sunday’s Oscars, Anne Hathaway, is one of Jodie’s co-stars in upcoming film One Day, due for release this summer.
Jodie stars as Maggie in Wish 143 and co-stars include Yorkshire actors Dean Andrews, who was in Ashes to Ashes, and Jim Carter, who has appeared in Downton Abbey and The Madness of King George.
It’s a drama about a 15-year-old boy with only months to live, who is granted one final wish from the Dreamscape Charity.
But David doesn’t want to go to Disneyland or meet Gary Neville; what he really wants is an hour alone with a naked woman.
Warm-hearted working girl Maggie played by Jodie, is his best chance.
The short film has already bagged awards – winning the Audience Award at the Palm Springs Film Festival and the Best Short Film at the British Independent Film Festival last year.
And at this Sunday’s Oscars it is up against The Confession, The Crush, God of Love and Na Wewe.
