WOMEN are being urged to step up for a fundraising challenge.
Organisers of Huddersfield’s annual Race for Life hope that 8,400 ladies will sign up to become part of the biggest female-only team in the UK.
So far just over 1,280 women have pledged to take part so more help is needed in raising the thousands needed to support Cancer Research UK’s life-saving work.
Women of all ages are now being urged to put their best feet forward and join the starting line-up at Leeds Road Playing Fields over the weekend of July 9 and 10.
Huddersfield event manager Helen Webster said: “Race for Life is not a competitive event. It’s about women of all ages, shapes, sizes and fitness levels coming together to join the girls and help beat cancer.
“They can walk, jog or run the 5k course and revel in Race For Life’s unique atmosphere of sisterhood.
“Many women are put off entering because they think they won’t be able to complete it.
“But we know that women often cover several kilometres on an average shopping trip without even realising it – so taking part in Race for Life is definitely achievable.”
