A CABBIE has admitted inflicting grievous bodily harm following a car smash on a notorious stretch of road in Huddersfield last summer.
Mohammed Saleem, 26, of Glebe Street, Marsh, collided with a vehicle carrying a teenage bridesmaid, her boyfriend and a fellow driver last July.
Jodie Miller, 19, was on her way to Holmfirth from a wedding in Huddersfield when the collision happened on Meltham Road, Lockwood.
She suffered multiple injuries in the early hours crash and needed treatment in intensive care after the collision.
Miss Miller’s boyfriend was also injured in the collision between the two vehicles.
Saleem did not have any passengers in his Vauxhall Vectra when it collided with the other cab being driven by Ghulam Abbas Khan.
Saleem had been due to stand trial at Bradford Crown Court, but at a hearing yesterday he formally entered guilty pleas to two charges of inflicting grievous bodily harm on Miss Miller and Mr Khan. Saleem, who has now been given an interim driving ban, admitted a third charge of driving his vehicle dangerously.
Judge Jonathan Durham Hall QC granted Saleem bail until his sentence hearing which is due to take place on May 17.
Following the collision last summer a member of Miss Miller’s family called for extra safety measures on the Meltham Road.
The crash was one of a series of car incidents on the road, between Lockwood and Armitage Bridge.
