SUPERMARKET staff are celebrating after raising £2,340 for Comic Relief.
Visitors to the Red Nose Day activities at Sainsbury’s Market Street store in Huddersfield last month included Huddersfield Town ambassador Andy Booth, who sold some scratchcards.
Other fundraisers included a tombola stall and the store’s manager becoming a living statue.
Organiser Mary Kitchen, the store’s PR ambassador, said: “We’re delighted to have raised this amount.
“It turned out to be such a great hit, with lots of people generously donating money.”
Meanwhile, customers and staff at Sainsbury’s other Huddersfield store at Shorehead raised more than £6,400.
Nationally, the retailer has now raised more than £58m for Comic Relief since its partnership with the charity began in 1999.
