Masked raiders tie up Elland Post Office worker
MASKED men punched a Post Office worker before making off with a “substantial” amount of cash.
A male worker was tied up at the Post Office on Southgate, Elland, at 6.40pm on Wednesday night.
Two men are said to have forced their way into a building, punched a male worker and tied him up before they raided the shop.
They left in a car, believed to be a blue coloured Astra.
A spokesman for West Yorkshire Police said: “At around 6.40pm two men forced their way inside the building.
“Their faces were covered.
“They then punched a male member of staff who was then tied up and forced to sit on the sofa before making off with a substantial amount of cash.
“After spending around half an hour on the premises the two men then made off in a vehicle which was parked at the rear.
“ It is thought that was a blue coloured Astra.”
A spokeswoman for the Post Office said: “We can confirm that a robbery took place at Elland Post Office last night. West Yorkshire Police are investigating and we would urge anyone with information to contact them directly.”
The victim was left with a minor bruise above the eye.
