A MAN has been arrested in connection with a shooting incident in Huddersfield.
The 29-year-old was detained today by police investigating reports of shots being fired in Brackenhall Road, Brackenhall, yesterday afternoon and a car crash in Bradley Mills Road a short time later.
Three other men are still being hunted.
It is believed they fled from a crashed Audi, minutes after shots were fired in Brackenhall.
The crash was in Bradley Mills, some two miles from the scene of the shooting, but detectives confirmed both incidents were being linked.
Eye-witnesses told how people ran from the crashed car, which had hit another vehicle in Bradley Mills Road.
Dale Pearson, who witnessed the crash at Bradley Mills, told the Examiner: "The Audi came flying round the bend and took out two bollards before crashing into a Citroën which was coming down the hill towards it.
"The men then got out and ran off."
Police sealed the road off for several hours as forensic experts joined detectives in the inquiry.
It is thought the driver of the Citroën was slightly hurt.
Police officers combed Kilner Bank, rising behind the Odeon Cinema and the Galpharm Stadium, in the hunt for the four fugitives.
Police would not confirm if the shots in Bracken Hall Road were aimed at anyone or at a vehicle.
Parts of Bracken Hall Road were sealed off by detectives carried out their major inquiry last night.
A dozen officers on their hands and knees painstakingly carried out a fingertip search down the centre of the road.
Detectives made house to house inquiries.
