TEENAGE drinkers are being tempted off the streets by football and dance classes.

West Yorkshire Police, Kirklees Active Leisure and Kirklees Council have funded the £3,000 programme to deal with under-age drinking in Thornhill.

Kirklees leader Clr Mehboob Khan welcomed the investment.

He said: “There have been fewer calls to the police in recent weeks as well as a reduction in anti-social behaviour and alcohol-related issues across the Thornhill area.”
