Keith Hilton and Pete Gallagher walk 120-miles for Help for Heroes
TWO men are taking on the challenge of a 120-mile walk in memory of hero soldier Lisa Head.
And one of them on the Holme to Holme challenge taught Lisa while she was at Almondbury High School.
Former assistant headteacher Keith Hilton and his friend Pete Gallagher aim to raise £6,000 for the charity Help For Heroes.
They chose the charity after attending the emotional funeral for Capt Head, a 29-year-old bomb disposal expert, who as fatally injured in Afghanistan.
Capt Head, who was born and brought up in Almondbury, was sports mad.
She played many sports at Almondbury High School, winning many honours, and proudly claimed to be the only girl allowed to play in the boys’ football team.
The charity is also close to the heart of Keith after a close family friend lost his life in combat.
Keith and Pete, who both live in the Holme Valley, set off from Holme village last weekend and aim to complete between 15 and 20 miles a day, arriving in Holme village, Cumbria, on Saturday.
Keith is originally from Barrow in Furness in Cumbria and the walk takes in part of the Pennine Way, Dales way and passes through Burton in Kendall.
