VISITORS to Beaumont Park were whisked back to a bygone era as music was played from the newly restored bandstand just like a century ago.
Lindley Brass Band struck up a fanfare welcome at the ribbon cutting ceremony held to mark the completion of the two year project.
The work totalling £165,000 has been carried out in partnership between park owners Kirklees Council and the Friends of Beaumont Park volunteer group with funding by the Heritage Lottery.
Peter Turner, chairman of the Friends group, said: “The restoration project has been a huge success and has resulted in a fabulous bandstand which will offer some wonderful opportunities to fill the park with fantastic music from a variety of local bands.
“I am incredibly proud of what we have achieved. Ever since we got the funding from Heritage Lottery I have been confident we would make this happen.
“To see all these people coming together to share in this special day speaks volumes and we are so grateful to the many people who have helped us get to this stage.”
