Kidnap mum Karen Matthews attacked in prison six times

THE mother of kidnapped youngster Shannon Matthews has been attacked six times in prison.

It was revealed that Karen Matthews has also had a transformation during her time inside – the 35-year-old has shed weight and has been seen sporting a newly-cropped hair style.

A national newspaper reported that the Dewsbury Moor mother-of-seven has been repeatedly set upon by inmates since she was jailed in January, 2009.

And she’s complained that she’s been locked up in a block alongside paedophiles and child killers at Foston Hall prison just outside Derby.

She was said to have been given a black eye during one incident.

Matthews and co-accused Michael Donovan were both sentenced to eight years for kidnap, false imprisonment and perverting the course of justice.

Matthews is due for early release next year, having served around half her sentence.

Matthews also said she was fed up living with the “paedos and child killers”, bizarrely insisting: “Nowt happened to Shannon!”

A former inmate told the Daily Mirror: “She’s had a bashing quite a few times. They always seem to go for her left eye. Once a shampoo bottle was thrown and it hit her in the face.

“She’s always moaning about being put in with the nonces. It’s made her too scared to mix.
