CONCERN is growing for a Huddersfield musician who has mysteriously vanished while on a walking holiday.

Pianist Geoff Bottomley from Cowlersley has not been seen for nine days after going on the holiday alone in Switzerland.

Mr Bottomley is also well known for fundraising for several charities.

The Foreign Office has confirmed him as missing and say they are offering help to his family.

A spokeswoman said: “We are aware of the case of a missing British national in Switzerland.

“We are liaising with the local authorities and his family, helping them in any way we can.

“We were informed on June 16 and we can liaise with the Swiss authorities and ensure families are kept informed.”

Mr Bottomley is a keen walker and is a member of a Saddleworth-based walking group, but went on the walking holiday alone.

He is known as a talented accompanist by many amateur dramatic and musical groups in the town.

Norman Mellor, chairman of Honley Male Voice Choir, said the choir were all concerned for him and hoped to hear of his whereabouts soon.
