Memories of Michelle Suttle – 150 people gather to say goodbye at her funeral
SHE was bubbly, mischievous and a great person to know.
Those were the words spoken about Michelle Suttle, who was tragically killed at Oakes and whose funeral took place yesterday.
A horse-drawn carriage took Shelley, as she was known to family and friends, on her final journey from her family home at Gargrave Close in Rastrick to Huddersfield Crematorium.
There waiting to say their goodbyes and celebrate her life were around 150 family and friends.
They entered the chapel to the Leona Lewis song Run and during the service Beyonce’s Halo was played, giving people the time to reflect on their own memories of Shelley, who lived at Oakes.
The Vicar of Rastrick, the Rev Matthew Pollard, spoke of the grief her family and friends were undoubtedly experiencing.
“If you asked me why God allowed this to happen, I could not tell you,” he said.
On behalf of Shelley’s family, he told of the fun times they had with the 23-year-old, who lived in Baker Street.
Mr Pollard said: “It was cruel, wicked and unjust the way she died. Whatever the outcome of the proceedings, it was a violent death.
“I ask people to open up their feelings about this and offer them to God.”
But much of the service was lively, with Shelley’s more mischievous side being revealed to the congregation.
