A CHARITY which gives support to  families and teenage mothers has seen its premises torched in a second  night of violence in Huddersfield.

The premises of Home Start which  is based at Coule Royd, Dalton, was  badly damaged after a fire bomb was  thrown through the window.

A room which is used to support  teenage mothers and their babies was badly damaged by the fire, which was  attended by crews from Huddersfield  fire station.

Theresa Burke, of the charity, said:  “It is heartbreaking. We are a charity and it’s hard times for everyone.

“We’ve been here for more than  five years but have been established  for 12. We have supported hundreds  and thousands of families in that  time. While we realise it’s not  personal, this attack feels like such a  kick in the teeth.

“We are providing support for  families in this community and across  Huddersfield.

“The room which has been  attacked was used specifically for  teenage mums and their babies. We  are devastated.”

Charity workers had to wait yesterday to start the clean-up until forensic experts, police and fire investigators  had completed their examinations.
