POLICE will make more early-morning raids this weekend to mop up the yobs and looters involved in this week’s violence.

And the message from the man at the top to those who caused the trouble was: “We will pursue you relentlessly”.

A team of officers has been specially formed to investigate several nights of disorder in the town.

So far, 11 people have been held in the town as part of Operation Ringway.

West Yorkshire’s assistant chief constable John Parkinson is heading up Operation Ringway and other inquiries across West Yorkshire into criminal damage, arson and looting.

Huddersfield has been the focus of much of the police inquiry after incidents in Deighton, Sheepridge, Dalton and Newsome.

Yesterday police released CCTV images of youths involved in a frightening looting attack at the Asda store in Huddersfield and already people have come forward with information.

ACC Parkinson said: “Officers are working around the clock to identify those responsible for the disorder and other criminal activity we have seen this week so they can be quickly brought to justice.

“I would once again like to thank the vast majority of people within these communities, who have been incredibly supportive of their local officers.

“I would also ask for their patience as we continue working to trace the very small minority who have been involved in these incidents.

“Our Neighbourhood Policing Teams are committed to working closely with local people to keep their communities safe, by ensuring there is a larger and more visible presence to offer reassurance and to tackle incidents at the earliest opportunity.”
