FIVE men wanted in connection with looting at a supermarket are still at large.

The gang sparked a police hunt after they turned copycats following rioting nationally.

Police said at the end of last week that they’d be making early-morning raids over the weekend to arrest those believed to be involved.

But the West Yorkshire force duty office last night said no arrests had been made but vowed to pursue the culprits “relentlessly”.

At around 10.20pm on Tuesday night a group of youths attacked the Asda on Bradford Road, smashing windows and stealing five television sets. They were later found abandoned in the car park of the store after the thieves ran away when alarms were activated by staff.

Two police officers who were at the store in a police car at the time received minor injuries after their car had objects thrown at it by other youths in the area.

So far, 11 people have been held in the town as part of Operation Ringway, which is looking into last week’s troubles.

Anyone with information is asked to contact Huddersfield Police on 0845 6060606 quoting Operation Ringway. People can also contact Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
