A MAN was slashed across the face in a terrifying knife attack.

The victim, in his 40s, suffered cuts to his face in the daytime knife attack in Bradford Road.

Now detectives have urged people to help them trap his attackers.

Police were called to the scene outside The Waggon and Horses pub at Hillhouse shortly before midday yesterday after it is believed two men confronted the man in his 40s.

The victim suffered a cut to his cheek and was taken to Huddersfield Royal Infirmary for treatment.

Police cordoned off an area of pavement outside The Waggon and Horses and also Jack Pearson’s Bookmakers at the junction with Whitestone Lane after the incident.

Forensic officers could be seen examining blood splatters after the attack and the West Yorkshire Police helicopter hovered overhead.

The incident happened in full view of shoppers and motorists using the busy road and they have been urged to contact police with information.

One local resident, who did not want to be identified, said: “I’ve lived in Fartown all my life. There’s never any trouble in the pub.
