Burst pipe hits water supplies in Lindley
A BURST water main hit around 100 homes in Huddersfield.
Customers in parts of Lindley and Birchencliffe were without water for several hours yesterday.
Yorkshire Water confirmed there was a burst pipe on East Street, just up from the crossroads at The Cavalry Arms on Halifax Road.
The pipe burst at 6.27am. Engineers repaired the damage by 11am but some homes remained without water until later in the afternoon.
Further work will be needed, which will include digging up the main A629 Halifax Road at the crossroads.
A spokesman for Yorkshire Water said: "We apologise to any customers in the Lindley area that may have experienced low pressure or no water in the early hours of yesterday morning due to a burst on one of our water mains on East Street.
"Because the location of the burst is in a busy highway we are working with the Highways Department to find the most suitable time to carry out necessary repairs.”
